7th Malaysia Primary and Secondary Interschool Weiqi Competition
Competition Rules
1. Tournament Format
The tournament will be conducted using the Swiss System. All participants must complete at least four rounds, and no player shall face the same opponent more than once.
2. Board and Scoring Method
Games will be played on a 13×13 Go board and scored using the area (territory) counting system.
The Black player will be declared the winner if they successfully place 88 or more stones on the board.
3. Pairing and Stone Color
Pairings and stone colors (Black or White) will be automatically assigned by the tournament system. The Captain and the player on Board 3 shall play with the colour assigned by the system, while the player on Board 2 shall play with the opposite colour.
4. Time Control
The tournament will use the Absolute Time System. Each round will last 40 minutes; for unfinished games after the 20-minute mark, the referee has the right to provide a game clock if needed.
A player who exceeds their time limit will lose the game.
5. Late Arrival and Forfeiture
Any participant who arrives more than 10 minutes late for a match will be considered to have forfeited and will lose by default.
6. No Takebacks/Cheating
Undoing or retracting a move is not allowed. Players must place their stones carefully and decisively.
Cheating is also not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to, discussing moves with teammates or using any form of artificial intelligence (AI) during the game.
7. Authority of the Referee
The referee has the authority to stop any meaningless or time-wasting behavior during the match.
8. Withdrawal from the Tournament
Participants may not withdraw without valid reason or quit midway through the tournament.
Any special circumstances must be reported in advance to the organizers.
9. Dispute Resolution
All disputes will be resolved by the Chief Referee, whose decision shall be final and binding.
